OK. We get it braces aren’t cool. But ceramic braces are! At Lineberger Orthodontics, Dr. Matt Lineberger, Dr. Megan Lineberger, Dr. Claire Fedore and Dr. Bhaven Sayania, offer ceramic braces for the residents of Charlotte, Elizabeth, Huntersville and surrounding communities in North Carolina.
What are Ceramic Braces?
Ceramic braces are just one of the ways that L.O. makes wearing braces cool, or at least, a little less uncool. Instead of having metal brackets, wires and bands everyone can clearly see, these parts of the braces are made of ceramic, except for the wires that are made of another transparent material.
What are the Benefits of Ceramic Braces?
- Braces are incognito
- Used for similar conditions as traditional metal braces
- Does not interfere with your social life any more than metal braces
- Perfect for children and teens who may feel self-conscious
How Do Ceramic Braces Work?
Ceramic braces work the same way as traditional metal braces, except people have to look really hard to see them. The standard set up for ceramic braces is having a bracket bonded to each tooth. You may have bands on one or more of your back teeth. The wire is laid on top of the brackets and held in place with a ligament. This design slowly moves your teeth each time the archwire is adjusted.
What Can Be Corrected with Ceramic Braces?
- Bite problems
- Crooked teeth
- Gaps between teeth
- Overlapping teeth
- Front teeth that stick out
- Overlapping teeth
What Should I Expect from Ceramic Braces?
The ceramic braces are placed on your teeth over one or two appointments. It will feel weird at first having something new in your mouth. You may need to change the way you chew food and talk, as you get used to having the ceramic braces on your teeth. Each time the archwires are adjusted, you may notice a slight aching in your teeth for the first few days.
How Much Do Ceramic Braces Cost?
We can give you pricing for ceramic and traditional braces to help you decide, and the results of both types of treatments are similar.
Does Insurance Cover Ceramic Braces?
Your dental insurance may not cover the cost of ceramic braces as this is often considered an elective upgrade. We can design the treatment plan based on what you can afford for out-of-pocket costs, and we also encourage you to learn about our in-house financing.
